Great Display item for children eager to learn about a Rain stick – Great Teaching Tool on different Cultures and how to make a Rain stick & why it was made

  2. E. G (verified owner)

Nice gift – Against the seller’s advice I bought this as a birthday gift my my grandson’s first birthday. I wrapped it in a bandanna to keep it out of his mouth which works well. He loves it, they have a 40″ at the children’s museum where he plays but this s just the right size. Next year he gets a small ipu.

Sand falls out of toy – Title sums it up. Sand slowly falls out of the toy when in use.

Pretty good little rainstick – This is a pretty good little rainstick. But, as others have noted, the little nails poke through to the outside. So, you need to file them off or push them back through. Sounds good for what I needed.

More maraca than rain stick – If you are hoping for the gentle rainfall sound as the rocks/beads slowly cascade over a maze of thorns inside the rainstick, this isn’t that. They just kind of quickly slide down to the other end of the tube. Luckily, my toddler doesn’t care much, and she just likes to shake it like a maraca. Also, don’t get the outside of the stick wet, whatever they coated it with just turns slimy.

Lovely sound and feel! – I love the sound! I bought this for my kids to play. This is a perfect size and volume for them. It is well constructed and sturdy for handling. It has a wonderful feel. The surface has a thinly applied protective coating. You can still feel the grain and the dips and holes.

  12. L. H (verified owner)

Disappointing sound – There is not enough sound with the movement of the stick.

Limited use but has possibilities for percussion work – As a percussion instrument, this is best for very delicate work, perhaps working with a single other player such as an acoustic guitar or flute. What’s unique about this is it can be used as a combination shaker and “rain stick” (although it’s not much rain as people have pointed out).
