Good sound, quality case and mallets. – I love the way this drum looks. I like the sound most of the tongues make, but since I don’t have a musical background, I do now know if it sounds the way they should. The case is made well. Nicely padded, with an easy to use zipper and a long strap. There is also a case for the mallets. I purchased this to teach myself how to play it by numbers. I also ordered additional music for it, as I did not know what some of the songs that came in the booklet were supposed to sound like.

Amazing drum – After doing lots of research, this is the best drum in its category,

Not perfect but better than most of the Chinese drums. It is magnetic. – Drums that I have tried:

Best drum I’ve owned out of 5. I’m finally done shopping! – This is the 12″ 13 note drum. Every note sounds good! Even the highest notes ring out clear if you learn their sweet spots. Many people would think that’s the tip of the tongue (is that a pun?), but for the smaller tongues, it’s often the lower part. You also need to practice your attack. Like the way you snap your wrist when throwing a Frisbee. You’ll get the loudest sound when using the mallets, softer sound with the rubber finger tips, and even softer with bare hands.

I tried 6 different steel tongues for comparisons, and this one was the ONLY one w/ no dead notes! – I purchased what looked like the best options of a few of these steel tongue drums, in these general sizes, from a few different brands so that I could compare and find the best one.
