Bong bong bong – The Jew’s harp, also known as jaw harp, vargan, mouth harp, gewgaw, guimbard, khomus, Ozark harp, Berimbau de boca or murchunga, is a lamellophone instrument, consisting of a flexible metal or bamboo tongue or reed attached to a frame. Call it what you want. It works. My grandpa had one so I thought I’d give it a try.

    2. P. R (verified owner)

Yep, it makes that sound. – So, I purchased this off a review from another purchaser who only wanted it for making boingy noises. I concur, this product makes some mighty fine boingy noises, and that is all I wanted out of it; No mouth harp lessons, no studio albums, no international mouth marp tour, just boingy noises, and this does it, plus the case for holding it is very cool. (3 minutes on youtube and I can make all kinds of boingy noises.) Ordered and shipped promptly.

Doesn’t come with instructions – I bought this as a gift for a 12 yr old. I of course didn’t try and use it. I like the look and feel. I wish it did come with some basic information on how to use . I will have to dig up some YouTube videos so he uses it properly .

My 17 yr old son APPROVES –  I bought this for my 17 year old son as he loves old country Western music. He has heard the mouth harp in many songs. We got this today, and he loves it!! He said the storage box is “… freaking awesome”, and it totally makes the “whooooong” sound he was looking for. I can see him really getting good at this!!

Good for beginner – Good for beginner, kid did end up cutting the corner of his mouth. But I feel like what was due to the speed of playing.

Good little jaw harp. – I would give this 5/5 stars if it was a little larger, but it is a good beginner harp. Sound is good and build quality is good. It is nice that it does come with a holder/storage device.

Hilarious and fun! – Got this as a silly gift as a stocking stuffer for my hubby who loves to learn new instruments. It quickly became his favorite present and carries the darn thing everywhere he goes!

    12. D. S (verified owner)

Stocking Stuffer… – Don’t know if they liked it? I do know I never heard it being used… had a kazoo, harmonica and a thumb harp as well! All I heard all day was the six year old on the harmonica. ‍♀️
