Great Resource For Most Working Musicians – I have both this and Doug Young’s Hymn book and have used them extensively in church preludes and other settings. If you would like simple Christmas arrangements for easy guitar, this is fantastic. If you are looking for intermediate/difficult full arrangements, this is probably not what you’re looking for. The spirit of this book is to provide easy to read arrangements for the working musician that sound good on their own, but the author also provides practical suggestions for adding introductions, endings and embellishments to add interest. Often, I’ll play both these and the hymns three times, the first as written and then embellish the 2nd and 3rd to add interest (and length). These are not fancy, but for most of my playing incidental music in church or nursing homes, small parties etc, these do the trick quite nicely.
