Great Product – Works Well – Having a physical metronome for teaching my son piano has been more conducive to learning than using an app. It’s a little pricier than I hoped for but it’s worth it. Definitely accurate and easy to adjust the speed. A couple points to note, the wood grain color doesn’t match the photos. Lighter wood grain is almost green-ish. When switching timing you have to line it up perfectly or the beats per measure are not recognized and you won’t hear the down beat. Overall I recommend this to any skill level trying to get away from using a metronome app.

  2. I. G (verified owner)

Avoid the light color – It works fine, but the lighter color has variations that make it look so ugly in person. Hard to capture in a photo. Now I will have to paint or stain it somehow.

  3. D. C (verified owner)

Too loud – Well it came in just a few days but it’s SO LOUD I’m not sure I’ll be able to use it with my students

  4. A. K (verified owner)

Very loud – This item looks very nice on a desktop. It’s very nicely made. I really like the idea of a manual metronome versus a digital one. However, it is excruciatingly loud, even at its bottom setting. There is no pleasing tone to it, and it offers three tone options. I have had metronomes in the past that did not sound this way. I am aware how a metronome is supposed to sound. I do not know whether or not the sounds this one has are due to manufacturing and/or cost cutting measures. However, if you were trying to play music, as one usually does with a metronome, this metronome sound is totally distracting. it was distracting enough for me to have to get up several times and discontinue use of the metronome. Of course this defeats the whole purpose of having a metronome. but as I said previously, this item looks wonderful on a desktop. The color is rich and lovely. The readout is simple and the item itself is easy to use. I intend to find one more suitable and less distracting to my ear.

Good, practical functionality at a very reasonable price. – Why would you buy a mechanical metronome when today you have all kinds of electronic units with their bells and whistle?

Beautiful and elegant – If you’re buying this, then you should probably already have the cheaper, digital box-like metronomes. Or at the very least, be using one on your phone, which may not be loud enough. These are adequate to simply keep time while you practice. This Donner pyramid keeps time very well and is loud enough that you can practice Rachmaninoff or Beethoven without having to strain to hear the click. It’s also an elegant companion to your piano, which is why I bought this. Kids love using this more than the digital metronomes, so it encourages use.

Affordable Practice Metronome with great value –  I bought this metronome for Guitar practice. To be clear, you can certainly download many apps for your phone or tablet that will work as well. However, for me just a tone is not always enough. When I am really focused on finger exercises and scales, I tend to out pace my metronome on my phone. While that may sound like improvement, it’s not. You really need to KEEP TIME. Having a tangible, visual guide to anticipate the beat really helps me.
