surprisingly low pitch for such a relatively small bell – The technology of mambo type bells has advanced to the point to where we can now pull some surprisingly low-pitched notes from a relatively small bell. Additionally, the wide, flat surface makes cowbell playing much easier in low light situations. I fully intend to mount this particular bell to the twelve o’clock position on my snare drum, and then the contra-compana (4-1/2″ cha-cha bell) will be mounted at the two o’clock position. Don’t let the low price fool you. This is an ideal mambo bell for jazz set drummers or timbaleros in small band applications.
