A Good Reference for Those Interested in Learning Music Theory and Jazz Guitar. – Seems to be a lot of well written reviews on this book already. I do agree there is a lot of material packed into 80 pages. Example are short, practical , well written and to the point. Not for the beginner.Would be helpful if one already new their Major Scales and fingering, and the diatonic chords built on the Major scale along with some music theory. Also knowledge of Bar Chords and some of their extensions would be helpful. Over the years I have gone through many of the so called popular methods such as the Ronny Lee’s and Mickey Baker’s books. I find this book to be the modern version of these books.Lots of good up- to date information and condensed examples that can be applied to one’s playing for the serious student of Jazz Guitar. And if you find the book to difficult or moving to fast, perhaps you are not ready for this level of guitar playing . Also consider that a good teacher might be able to direct you in the right direction, or pace you through this book based on your experience and knowledge.

This is not for you if you are a beginner – Nice compilation of scales, chords, and jazz theory. Excellent reference and with a few exercises as well.

Demanding but Rewarding – I’m about three months into this book. I can’t see the horizon but I’m enjoying the journey. This is not an instruction book for beginners but it will reward serious study by intermediate guitarists.

Very dense – The book seems to attempt to present everything in 80 pages.

right book at the right time – good step by step walk-through of essential chords, progressions etc needed to explore jazz guitar. I’m using it with a teacher who used it when he was learning. the illustrations and other graphics are clear. I’ll probably buy the next in the series when it’s time.

The free sample you can download has working audio, but the purchased version does not. The buttons to play the audio samples do not work in the purchased ebook. You must contact Hal Leonard via their website and send them your receipt to get access to their online library of audio for this book.
