I wanted to love it, sadly I don’t – The idea of this Smart Kalimba is awesome, the execution is flawed.

Disappointing Smart Kalimba – Quality of the Kalimba is bad, some “tones” do not resonate, some “tones” are loose and can be moved.

Relax and Learn – My wife bought one for herself. Now we will get the grand kids one each. Great way to pass the time on a long trip and they aren’t so loud as to disturb others. It appears well made and with care should last. It’s like a music box that you control. One can learn to play their own tune.

I LOVE my new toy! – There’s a few songs I really want to learn to play, but my eyesight isn’t what it used to be and trying to read tabs and pluck tines wasn’t working for me. The library of songs available include a lot of the popular tabs found on youtube, but I’m not in the mood to retune my Kalimba w/ every song. The software is a bit fidgety but I was able to work around it to get exactly what I wanted. If you follow what it’s capable of, it works great. It works better using an audio file rather than an url (the url’s may have blocks that trips up the software). It’s really best to record the song in actual C tuned even though it doesn’t matter which tuning you play in (assuming straight B tune or C tuned for ex). Setting up the the gadget to sync w/ my wifi wasn’t as tramautic as I was expecting (I thought I had a 26 character password.. it was only 12…phew) I couldn’t get their wifi platform to work, but they give you both options. It takes a LONG time for your songs to download and you need to keep the KalimbaGo program open. So might as well put the thing down and go read a book for a few hours, Your patience will be rewarded. I bought KTabS software to create tabs awhile back. I found the sound that generates works great w/ the Kalimba Go software. If you are a rank amature w/ the kalimba and technologically challenged, you may not be very happy w/ this unless you get someone to help you. However, I am very happy w/ my purchase and it does exactly what I wanted it for. Woohoo!

Kalimba Hero – Great way to learn new songs! – This is such a neat idea! The module is really easy to use and there’s a whole lot of songs on there for learning. They range in difficulty from 5 (hardest) to 1 (easiest), however I didn’t see any 1s and only one 2 in the first fifty or so songs. It works better on some kalimbas than others – if the bridge bit is really low, it can muffle the sound of the tines, but if it’s higher up then everything sounds perfect! All in all this is a super clever invention, almost like Guitar Hero for kalimba!

Has potential, but not if you want to download additional songs – I got this with the hopes that it would work. The kalimba sounds nice. Unfortunately, the electrical unit itself will not connect. I even tried going to the website like it suggested but the website no longer exists. This had potential to be incredibly great. No matter what I do, it will not connect in order to create the account. I have tried going to the website on different devices but the website no longer exists. I’m glad I waited for this to be cheaper before I bought it. It was close to 100 bucks. I saw three songs in English that were pre-loaded onto the unit. The rest were in Chinese characters. I was able to tune the kalimba with the tuning option. It’s just a shame the website does not exist anymore and then I cannot get it to connect to download more songs. Very disappointing.
