Gift for 6-year-old – We bought this for our 6-year-old as she’s very interested in music and musical instruments. Not only has it been a huge hit for the 6-yr-old, but her siblings (3 & 9) and my husband and I love to pluck away at the thing, too.

pretty nice. – Feels and sounds nice. Cute little instrument with pleasant sound even during quiet time. Nice to meditate on. Three only thing I’m not pleased with is that each key/ metal tongue is slightly loose enough so that they are able to sometimes become to close and touch the other one next to it.

Great Starter Kalimba – I love it and it is a really good quality for the money. The higher notes might be more rich in tone in higher quality kalimbas but I’m satisfied…. except my A4 or 6 key seems to be lower set then the others and it’s hard to make cords with it at certain angles or use it as a grace note. Also my thumb guards weren’t really needed and broke day one. Only been playing it for 2 weeks and did the songs from memory so apologies on the video.

Beautiful! And now I have a new hobby – I’m so thrilled with this. I saw videos of people playing the kalimba and wanted to give it a try. I’m not formally trained in any instruments, but I can play basic things (like one note at a time) by ear. This came already tuned so it was easy to pick up and play! Twinkle twinkle little star is always a good start and I figured it out in seconds. Even if you’re just playing around and hitting random tines, it still sounds nice and really soothing. It comes with a lot of accessories that make it a great all-in-one starter pack. The manual is awesome and teaches you how to read tabs so you can follow along with sheet music (or eventually write your own!) and even teaches you how to make a “WAH” sound (as it’s called in the manual) that gives your notes a cool 80s vibrato synth feel. I’m really happy I got this because now I have a newfound hobby that I can do anywhere!
