Wonderful instrument, just wish I was more skilled. – A really beautiful music piece. Even without playing it, it makes a nice display piece. I can’t say I have a lot of musical talent, so my use of this is extremely basic. The music sheets for some basic songs don’t make any sense to me but for those with formal training is probably easy stuff. I couldn’t figure out how to play “Little Star” using the music sheet but was able to come up with the song by ear, which I will provide you at the end (using the numbers on the keys). The sound seems really nice and there are other features for those more skilled than myself. It comes with a nice flannel bag when transporting, finger covers to help you play, a very nice tuning hammer, and other items. Cute instrument for both kids and adults – Most people think thumb pianos are for kids. Kids WILL love it, but I love it too as an adult! They are actually very fun! First, I was impressed by the beautiful flower engraving. The notes were clear and in tune when I received it. It came with instructions, a song book, and a tuning device, but so far, I have not needed to use them. When I first received it, it took a while before I figured out the key lay out. Once I got the hang of it, it wasn’t hard to play. In this past year I’ve played many songs on my ‘piano’ and even picked out a few of them on my own. I’ve also created my own tunes. If you like the sound of beautiful wind chimes, you’ll love a thumb piano.

The kalimba comes with a bevy of accessories including finger guards that are protect the fingertips when playing the instrument. Whether you are seriously playing the kalimba or just having fun picking at it, you will enjoy this instrument. It comes with a tuning hammer to adjust the pitch of the prongs. The instruction manual provides excellent guidance for playing and maintaining the kalimba. The instrument and its accessories are nicely stored in a roomy bag. I will admit that I do not play the Kalimbra myself; but I have a great love for musical instruments that I tend to collect and attempt to learn. Beginner-friendly kalimba – The kalimba arrived already tuned, but the included instruction book has suggestions for free tuning apps and references for note matching if you find yourself needing to use the included hammer. The instruction book has a couple word typos and only a couple sample songs, but it’s enough to get started. The materials used to make the kalimba are good quality, I don’t feel like this is going to break apart with reasonable care and use. The number for the E6 tine looked a little less distinctive (engraved more shallow) than the markings on the other tines, but it’s a trivial detail and the included reference stickers have clear text. I don’t have big hands, but I can comfortably reach the C4 tine with my thumbs while holding the kalimba.
