Lovely sound, takes some getting used to – Beautiful craftsmanship, with gorgeous purple heart wood and tines that are the same LingTing quality as ever, which is to say wonderful. The sound reminds me a bit of my acrylic kalimbas, but louder. Not as loud as a hollow bodied kalimba, but not too quiet either.

Amazing kalimba but difficult to tune – I love this kalimba. The sound is lovely and the highest notes still have good resonance. The curve of the tines and the spacing between the tines has made this me go-to kalimba for many songs in the month I’ve had it. However, tuning is a problem. The kalimba did come pre-tuned but over half of the keys were off by a slight amount. I had to use a different tool than was supplied and spend about two hours tuning. I’m usually able to tune a kalimba in about 10 minutes. My hope is now that I will never have to tune again. If the kalimba had been in tune upon arrival I would give this 5 stars without question.

Lovely B TONE kalimba, with a few quirks – The K17P is a B tone kalimba, not the standard C. I made an assumption that it was C because there was nothing in the MAIN description about the tuning – you have to scroll all the way down the page to the “product description” section to find this information. What a pain to re-tune to C, but it was fine after that. I prefer this wood color anyways. I have several kalimbas and the first thing I noticed about this one is how long each note resonates and how lovely the high notes sound. If you have smaller hands, this instrument is a great option. I do not, so it’s a bit annoying for me because this is a narrower instrument and the tines are closer together. And as beautiful as this instrument is, it can be a bit slippery to hold on to – Flatboard kalimbas tend to be heavier and the design of the wood is very straight and smooth. Personally, I don’t mind that the keys do not have any number or letters engraved on them since this instrument comes with the letter/number stickers. It also gives you the freedom to re-tune and put different note stickers on which you can see in the picture.

A beautiful Kalimba – This is my first purchase of a Kalimba. I didn’t know they existed until 2 weeks ago. The craftsmanship is very nice. I did need to tune it a bit when it arrived as the shipping box looked like it had a few hard falls. And now, it sounds as good as the videos and reviews. Five stars all the way! Thank you.

Beautiful instrument. – This a beautiful well crafted instrument. It seems to me to have more space between the tines in comparison to the Lingting 21, which I returned because of that issue. The tone is bell-like crystal clear. The only issues I have with this Chromatic Linting is 1) the upper tines need to be removed to tune the lower tines. Hopefully this one will have the same ridges on the underside that help to keep it in tune. (I haven’t checked that out yet. And 2) I wish it had bass notes. I guess I can tune it that way but if those ridges are on the underside of the tines that will be a tedious task.

Nice little kalimba – Nice little solid body/flat board kalimba. I prefer the richer sound of flat boards. They are quieter than the hollow body but I like that because I don’t have to worry about disturbing other people in the house.

Lovely, sweet clean sound – I love the way it’s very musical compared to some of the hollow bodied ones that just “plunk” without much ring. I have this and a Hluru solid and the sound quality is almost identical. The pluck/tines feels better on the Hluru, but I could live with either. This one is smaller than the Hluru. Highly recommended!
