Expect many broken strings. – The product came with everything pictured, and was pretty true to the photo (albeit very obviously cheaply made- but it’s $70… I wasn’t expecting quality). My real problem with it is that it won’t tune- whenever it gets close, the strings just snap. This isn’t the first string instrument I’ve picked up, so I’m fairly familiar with this style of tuning, but nothing has worked. Despite the affordable price, this has left my instrument unplayable, and has been very disappointing and frustrating.

It’s… a thing… – I should qualify this with the fact that I will be keeping the instrument in spite of a few flaws. The purpose of getting this was to be able to sample sounds and chords, not play full songs. For that purpose, it’s going to exceed my expectations… just not for the reasons I had expected. Also, it does look nice.

I LIKE IT – This is only my second lyre, but it’s already my favorite. It’s pretty. It feels good. It’s well made. It’s the perfect size.

GREAT HARP, GREAT SOUND, WORTH IT! –  This is a quality lyre harp. I wanted one that had a good sound for me. Harps are like any other musical instrument in that it has to be right for the player. Everybody has very different things they are looking for in this harp had what I wanted. I saw other types with the dish shaped scalloped body and that didn’t work for me. That model has a concave body but the sound reverberated a bit too much for me. I watched a lot of harp videos on YouTube trying to figure out what type of sound box suited my interests. I researched this Cega model and found it had a bright cheerful resonance. The sound box on this resonates deep bright and cheerful. Also I wanted one with a string guard and a saddle. The saddle (the long wooden or bone line that the strings stretch across perpendicularly) raises the strings off the base and gives more room for playing. Also the metal gold toned string guard was important to me as it keeps the strings from rubbing on the wood. it was a built-in safeguard for me looking down the line perhaps years with this model.

Save for a better quality instrument – As soon as I opened up the box I noticed pitted areas on the wood, water looking stains on the gold bar, and bubbling around the tuning pins. I’m concerned that with multiple tunings that the wood around the pins will split. The strings were not easy to tune, but hopefully will settling in with time. I’m considering returning this item and putting the money towards the instrument that I really wanted that seems to have better quality. The sound is pretty, but since this is my first lyre harp, im not exactly sure what they sound like in person. The lowest string is not accessible if you were to play with your left hand through the back of the instrument which I knew before purchasing, but that I didn’t think would matter as much until I attempted to play it. The strings are also all different heights from the body of the harp, but I’m not sure how this affects the playing or sound.
