Great beginner instrument – Great value for my money

Geat value – hard to believe this kit is just over $100 – I’ve never played a mandolin and didn’t know what to expect. I have no idea if this plays well or not compared to more expensive models. With that said, I have been playing guitar professionally for 40 years – and for just over $100, this seems like an insane value. I feel like it is easy to play and has pretty good action. Nearly as good as my $2200 acoustic 12-string. I think the Gig bag, strap and tuner are probably worth $50 of it. Mine came with a bad E string (bad loop that slipped), but it also came with a spare set. It arrived in good condition and sounds good both plugged in and not. The neck, fretwork and finish are way better than I expected (which admittedly was not much for the price). Intonation is off, but easy enough to fix. Electronics are quiet and pickup seems well balanced and clean. Nice range on the tone pot. Tuners are a little hyper-active (low ratio), but work smoothly. Bridge is compensated – but is bottomed out, so I can’t lower the action (which doesn’t seem bad – so not a big deal). So far it stays in tune much better than I expected for something that sat in a box in who knows what kind of environment. Finally, it looks great – I won’t be embarrassed to whip it out on stage for the 2 or 3 songs I’ll play on it. This will pay for itself in one gig!

Half decent for beginners, requires more tinkering than tuning. – Good morrow curious buyers!

REVIEW FROM A PARENT – GREAT QUALITY, GREAT SOUND, READY TO USE STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! – As a parent of a young aspiring violinist who is always looking for expanding skills and learning new instruments I have to say with full confidence that this instrument is perfect for a gift for any child or musician who intends to master mandolin.

Impressive for the price. – I purchased this for a stage show I’m in, but didn’t want to pay a ton of $$. I also wanted a good sound, this fit both requirements.
