Great mat – This is a great pad for $15. Compare to StewMac’s guitar workpad at $47 to 57!! Or Fender’s at $56. This is a better mat than either of those, although those both have a plastic neck cradle. You will want to make or purchase a neck support to properly work on your guitars with this mat. You want the headstock elevated, especially if it is a headstock that angles back (like a les paul, etc.) so you don’t crack the headstock or neck.

  2. R. F (verified owner)

    Awesome product. – Perfect

  3. M. H (verified owner)

Protected guitar from scratching – Lightweight and the thickness

  4. P. Z (verified owner)

Curly mat – This mat comes rolled up rather tightly, with an elastic band so that you can store it that way. Unfortunately, it doesn’t unroll to flat very easily. So when you go to use it, it is constantly curling up or rolling under. Yes, you can place weights at each end of the mat; but these can get in the way when using the mat for instrument repair. If you have a repair shop and can let the mat lay flat with weights for an extended period of time, then this mat should work well for you. It is nicely cushioned and has texture on only one side, so you can chose your preferred working surface.

Great Mat – I have been using an Op/tech mat for years now, and while it did the job, it has gotten pretty filthy over the years. It’s nearly impossible to clean. It also became more and more tacky over the years. A lot of other reviewers mentioned the op/tech mat imprinting on guitar finishes if left on the mat for extended periods of time. I have not experienced this myself, but regardless it was time for a new one.

Takes time to flatten out – It’s very useful, and works as advertised; it does take time to flatten out – I rolled it out on my workbench and weighted it down on both ends for 5 or 6 days before it started to stay flat; it could be a little thicker material, but it does the job ok.

  9. G. N (verified owner)

Essential item for instrument care. – Lightweight protective mat that helps keep your instrument in great shape.
