A little rough around the edges… – This frog instrument came a little rough. The wood isn’t sanded smooth in most places and is kind of splintery. It’s still real cute and does work as a percussion instrument. I just was expecting it to come a little more finished.

So cute; carving will vary – I remember first seeing these years ago in a catalog and thinking they were so clever and cute. I’m so happy to have one now.

Cute little frog – My son loved this little frog in music class. It’s a little wooden frog that you stroke his back and he “croaks.” It’s really neat and for my son it’s calming. This one was the perfect size for him, a small child. I was so glad I finally found one.

Small but easy to use with great sound – This is small and very easy to use. It really does sound like a little frog. The kids just love it, and so does my adult 26-year-old son, so it seems like it has a wide appeal if you wanted to gift it. The carving is very well done and the use is quite intuitive. Almost everyone that’s picked it up has known that they were going to rub that stick down the frog’s back, but most seem very surprised when the frog sound starts.

Palm sized percussion – This is an adorable tiny frog instrument. It fits easily in the palm of your hand. It makes the traditional croaking sound, and you can also tap it for nice resonate staccato percussion notes. My kids love making music with it, and it is a perfect size for kids. The only negative is the finish, the wood was a bit rough in places, but at this price I can’t really complain.

Perfect For Our Drum Circle – When we have parties, we sometimes like to creat a drum circle, where we provide guests with a varierty of drums and other percussion instruments and let them jam (what can I say, we’re a bit “different”). This little Nutta Frog Rasp is the perfect addition to our array of percussion instruments (we have several other guiros, as they are called, in a variety of sizes). Thise one’s tiny, but it makes a big sound, notwithstanding its size. This is a hand carved item, so it’s not “perfect”, but that’s part of its charm. The stick that you use to make the croaking noise fits nicely in the frogs mouth for storage. It’s a terrific conversation piece, and one of those things that you might give to a child, only to have it comandeered by an adult. At $8, it’s a bargain.
