great to test the waters – It feels very solid, the low notes sound incredible. Everything promised was included. My issue is with the highest note when learning Zelda’s lullaby. It sounds off pitch at all breath pressures. But I bought the purple one for $6 including tax and am ecstatic about it. Now I know I love to play ocarina and it is worth investing in a night by noble as the next step up. If you are interested in trying ocarina or have a young kid who wants to mess around with it, this one is the one to get if it is available for $10 or less. Don’t forget you can use the Amazon app to get a $15 discount on your first and second order of $25 or more, so a higher quality ocarina might qualify, and therefore be only a few more dollars than this.

Poorly Tuned – This is not professional at all. This Ocarina is not even suited for casual use. This is no where near tuned to the proper frequencies. This is nothing more than a display piece.

Well made, nice color – Substantial and well made musical instrument, not a toy. Bought for my grandson, maybe a bit too sophisticated for him. Awkward hand positions on an ocarina, easier on a recorder which I bought last year. Still a very nicely appointed and constructed instrument. Directions could expound more to be more comprehensive.

Amazing instrument! – This ocarina plays better than my more expensive ceramic one. Although it apears smooth it isn’t slippery at all. The holes are just big enough to easily feel the hole but small enough to easily cover, just right. The notes have a very round and full timbre. There is a gradual breath pressure requirement as you go higher in pitch and the last couple of high notes require a lot of breath control but can be achieved clearly. Although the timbre is very round and sweet, not shrill or breathy whatsoever, it is very loud in volume especially at the top register so ear protection is recommend. This may or may not limit indoor practice but is great for performance as it will just through a live band easily, or Carry out a melody through an entire park or forest. Very intune although breath control is required as under/overblown can significantly alther the pitch. I have dropped it several times on concrete and other than superficial scratches that were easily sanded away, this thing feels virtually indestructible yet light. Very compact and lightweight, perfect for travel or edc if you regularly have the time and space to practice and compose. Very easy and intuitive to learn your first scale for complete beginners. Overall as a musician (guitar, didgeridoo, drums, recorder, key board, singer, etc) for over a decade I can say you will rarely find a better deal. This thing will last you forever and perform like a professional instrument. It is not a toy, serious instrument.

For my Grand daughter – This was a gift for my grand daughter. She was wanting to teach herself to play in her spare time. She’s very artistic and doesn’t like to have down time. She loves it.

A very good first ocarina – It really is a nice ocarina. It came with a drawstring fabric bag.
