Fun little Kalimba – This little Gecko K10CAS is terrific. It’s nice to hold, the camphor smell is not unpleasant and disappears quickly when the instrument is out of the package. It’s easier to hold than my other 10 key (by a different manufacturer) and I really like the unfinished feel of the wood. The keys are nicely shaped and easy to play. They’re longer than my other 10 key and not as stiff. No dead tines. Wonderful resonance. It’s tuned to the key of C and that gives a lot of leeway when playing this little guy. It came out of the box almost perfectly tuned and even comes with its own little tuning hammer. I kept my other 10 key by the chair I’m usually sitting in so it’s in easy reach and that one will be put away because it’s been replaced by this new one. It’s really lovely and I’d say don’t think twice about purchasing one, just do it.

Sounds better than my more expensive one! – First off, please know that this Kalimba is tuned to B-tone. You can still play songs that are in the more common tuned C-major Kalimbas. It is made of eucalyptus wood, smooth with a nice scent. I imagine that will fade over time. I don’t mind it at all. There is no case but it comes with a tuning hammer, cleaning cloth(a very nice one) a thin drawstring bag and a very good instruction booklet. Warm Tone – The keys on this Kalimba are somewhat better than other brands. I love the smell of the camphor wood. The tone is warm and full. My Kalimba was tuned well when I received it. It comes with a really nice zippered case. I would say it is a bit quieter than Kalimba’s that are hollow with a sound hole. And the price is right! This would make an excellent gift too.
