I love my grandkids. – My grandchildren are 10 and 7. I gave them a little lesson on how to read notes, then I moved to Arizona. They are still in Nevada. So they use the Hal Leonard books for children to play songs for grandma to make her happy. It does. Now I am telling other parents about it. I love to hear them play. I will buy more.

Great beginner book for teaching piano! – I am a piano teacher, and would recommend this book as a great first book for kids and adults alike to learn the basics of piano. It has some theory exercises, and makes learning piano easy and fun! I pair it with the Essential Elements Piano Theory book 1, as they work together well. They are mostly familiar children’s songs, but a great place for anyone to begin! Good luck, and have fun teaching and learning piano!

Excellent book for the young beginner – Excellent book for the young beginner. The children do have trouble keeping up with the accompaniment available from the website. Better off just making up accompaniment as children play their pieces to avoid frustrations and discouragement.

Easy book for beginners but other than the “Happy Birthday” … – Easy book for beginners but other than the “Happy Birthday” song, there are no familiar starter tunes to hold a childs attention. However, the more intermediate level songs are from Disney like Frozen & The Lion King & that had motivated my LO to enjoy his practice but those tunes are more geared for children who have already been exposed to the piano & know a little bit more than a beginner. Still a great starter book to own.

Not happy to have to use computer for accompaniments – An interesting approach that seems to work well for my 1st and 2nd grade piano students. Not happy to have to use computer for accompaniments…would rather have a CD. Can it be down loaded onto a CD? Can’t figure that out.
