It’s a lot of fun to play this – I’m a band director, and I was fascinated by this “brass” alternative to the recorder. I’ve been exploring the idea of starting my beginning students on recorders before giving them their instruments, but I was worried my brass players would be left out. It’s a lot of fun to play this, and the pitches are accurate. My only issue is that it doesn’t contain D or E pitches. It has F, G, A, Bb, B, and C. It’s great for 5-note songs in the key of F, but I would love it that much more if it could handle more pitches. However, that didn’t stop me from purchasing a second one for my 3-year-old nephew for Christmas!

Good for a 3 year-old but with one design flaw – Great “first brass” experience for my three year old. I’m a band director and was excited to give this to him for his birthday. My only complaint is that the bell of the instrument comes off really easily – the connection to the rest of the instrument isn’t very sturdy. The connection quickly broke so the bell wouldn’t stay on. We used duct tape to permanently attach it, and while not so attractive, it fixed the problem. I love that my son can have the experience of playing a pseudo brass instrument so young. He loves it too!

Cool concept-pricey – As a music educator and brass player, I wanted something I could with my 2 1/2 year old to start introducing the concept of a wind instrument. I liked this because you actually have to buzz your lips. I think overall its a cool idea. I would probably give it 3.5 stars just for cost. I bought 2 so I could model for him, $60+ tied up in plastic funnels is a lot. The kid seems to like it, and I think will get use for several more years. I just think it’s expensive.

Fun toy. Bad instrument. – It doesn’t come with a case. Don’t throw away the rubber washer. That will help you keep it assembled.

Excellent “Buzz” Trainer for Brass Embouchure – I got this for my kids to build up their embouchure in order to learn trumpet and French Horn. I am not a professional teacher and, when I remember how hard it was for me to learn how to play when my face would go numb quickly, I thought it would be good to give my kids a fun way to build up their muscles. I had, at first, told them it’s ok to walk around buzzing into my mouthpieces but quickly regretted that. It took me hours to find all of the mouthpieces…

Sturdy and Perfect for young beginners! – Awesome 5(+) note beginner brass instrument! I would recommend this for anyone considering a toy/beginner instrument for ulterior youngster. I plan to use a handful of these at a summer camp for pre-band students to get a feel for playing a brass instrument. These are ranged for 5 notes in the key of F. You can choose F Major, F minor, or even F Blues. The tone is decent on the best of days (read unpleasant) but pitch is steady and the markings on the slide are accurate enough to play in tune. Like I said, is a great instrument for those thinking they’d like to get their kiddo playing trombone, trumpet, or any other horn from the brass family. Have fun!!

Fun, but a little pricey for little more than a toy – I’m a long time trombone player and got this for my 3 yr and 6 yr old to learn the basics of buzzing and slide position. Not a great sound and little more than a toy, but the kids loved it. My neighbor bought the p-bone for his 6 year old and seems like the pbone is pretty close to a real trombone and light enough for the 6 year old to handle so I’d skip the pbuzz and go right for the pbone.

Fun and Musical – I bought this for my 3-year old for Xmas. It’s perfect. I play horn, and he always wants his own brass instrument. He can get a big sound on this, and loves using the slide to change to pitch and play long sliding notes. He calls it his trombone. He is on the smaller side, and he can’t quite reach all of the positions on the slide; there are 6 positions and he can only get to 5th.
