Fantastic toy for a newborn – I can shake and spin this toy in front of my 4-month-old, and it quells his crying. He is fascinated by it. I even take it with us when we go places. Makes both of us happy!

Very cool, but not so durable – Engrossing sensory toy, but I would opt for the shorter stick. My grandkids, the little ruffians, had It broken in half within three days. I’m sure if handled with care, it would be fine. The shorter stick didn’t look like it had the weak link in the middle. Unfortunately, that’s a hard thing to convey to a child. Maybe a good educational tool in teaching finesse and gentle operation.

Does What A Rain Stick is Supposed to Do – Make Rain Sounds! Good for Special Needs Babe – I am very happy with this rain stick. They didn’t try to make this more than it is. I wanted a toy to help a special needs baby with sensory development, and to catch his attention. This does just that, makes rain and looks interesting so he will look up at it. This is overall 12” long, and the rain-making part is 10.5” long. There are 11 colorful discs with holes aligned differently to make the beads go more slowly through. The beads take their time (5-10 seconds) getting to the bottom, and when you think it’s done you can continue to wiggle it for more beads to come down. While this toy may be too long for a small babe to hold on their own, it meets my use to hold it for baby for now, until he gets a bit older.

Great for a 4 month old and up. – Fun for a 4 month old plus, very entertaining and fun to manipulate.

Too big for a young baby to hold – It’s a beautiful toy to look at and makes a lot of noise when shaken. Only problem, my grandson is 8 months old and it’s too big and thick for him to hold.

It’s fine as a rattle. It doesn’t really qualify as a rainmaker. – It’s fine as a rattle. It doesn’t really qualify as a rainmaker.
