Go to a larger size – As the size increases the tonal quality increases on this series of drum. I would not consider less than a 16 in and prefer the 22 in. The best reason to select this one is that its portable but so is a 16 in hand drum.

Nice looking hand drum – I purchased 4 pairs of these drums and they are not tuned consistently. Not even close. There’s no way to tighten the drum heads. They do look good and are rugged, but need to have pitch consistency.

14″ is a Good Size for a Practice Bodhran, 10″ is Too Small – Fiberskyn means that the skin is made of clear plastic and some kind of process is used to make it look like animal skin. Actually, it looks very realistic and I think it’s much better than leaving the drumhead clear. The frame itself is made of wood and painted black. The outside of the frame is covered with a thin plastic veneer to make it look like it’s made of rosewood. The Remo Frame Drum is made in Taiwan and is very, very well made.

Great little backpack drum – 10″ drum is a great little drum for the price. I like to play with a little brush or my hand. Can carry around easily in my little backpack or just in my lap at my desk. Satisfies my tapping needs wherever I am.

Ordered 2, Used for Past 1.5 months, Holding Up Well – I ordered two of these and have been using them for about a month and a half now. I purchased them to do neurologic music therapy (NMT) and imitation exercises with our son. Our son receives NMT services at this time to support regulation, motor skills, and hopefully the long term development of his expressive language skills. Although we do spend a great deal of time working on encouraging the latter, for me, as his mom, I know he can still function effectively as an adult given his ability to communicate with his speech device. So I actually consider his overall ability to regulate to be the most important of the things we’re working on right now when it comes to helping him function in the world outside of our house. But I spend copious amounts of time encouraging both, and this is one of the things we use. I purchased these specifically because they are more similar to the ones used at his clinic, and I thought the visual similarities would help him adjust to them.
